After five months away from competing, Rafael Nadal will return at the ATP 250 in Melbourne in January. The competition will run between January 4 and 9, using the same facilities as the Australian Open.
The Spaniard decided to sit out of the ATP Cup to continue with his recovery and he’ll now have Reilly opelka, Grigor Dimitrov and Lloyd harris as his main rivals.
It was against the South African Harris that Nadal fell in his last outing before announcing an untimely end to his season due to problems with his left foot.
Fellow Mallorcan Jaume munar will also take part, while the only Spaniards competing in the women’s edition will be Castellon’s Sara sorribes and Granada’s Nuria Parrizas… They could face Naomi osaka, Simona halep or Emma raducanu…
