Covid-19: Five Covid-related deaths and 515 hospitalizations

BBC News NI provides the latest data on coronavirus and Covid-19 vaccinations in Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland.
Five other Covid-19-related deaths were reported in Northern Ireland on Wednesday.
The total number of Covid-19-related deaths in Northern Ireland since the start of the pandemic is 3,263.
Deaths are measured by recording those who died within 28 days of receiving a positive coronavirus test result.
Another 2,391 coronavirus cases were reported on Wednesday, compared with 2,605 on Tuesday.
There were 515 people hospitalised with Covid-19 in Northern Ireland, up from 506 on Tuesday.
Four Covid patients are in intensive care.

A total of 3,741,872 Covid-19 vaccines were administered in Northern Ireland on Wednesday.
A total of 1,421,829 people received the first dose, 1,327,321 received the second dose, and 20,507 received the third dose.
A total of 972,215 booster shots were given on Wednesday.

Two people died in the Republic of Ireland on Wednesday 16 March.
The total number of Covid-19-related deaths since the start of the pandemic was 6,638, according to the latest update on Wednesday.
The figure, subject to revision, includes “possible and probable” deaths related to Covid-19.
On Wednesday, the Republic of Ireland reported 5,452 more coronavirus cases confirmed by PCR testing, up from 6,284 on Tuesday.
In addition, 8,644 people tested positive for the antigen.
As of Wednesday, 1,081 people were hospitalized with Covid-19 in the Republic of Ireland.
There were 44 Covid-19 patients in the hospital’s intensive care unit on Wednesday, two more than on Tuesday.

As of Tuesday, a total of 7,817,976 vaccines against Covid-19 have been administered in the Republic of Ireland (excluding reminder vaccines).
A total of 3,823,314 people received the first dose of the vaccine, 3,754,960 people received the second dose of the vaccine, and 239,702 single doses of the vaccine were received.
A total of 2,868,884 booster shots were given on Tuesday.
