Today, you can’t throw rocks at a new off-road truck without hitting the crew compartment. In fact, don’t throw rocks at the truck. Instead, the four-door crew-cab configuration didn’t really appear in the United States until the 1960s.this means 1962 Dodge W200 Power Wagon Probably the closest thing to a direct ancestor of today’s 2022 Ram HD 2500 Power Wagon, it’s only available in the crew compartment.
Shortly after the International Travelette, Dodge’s first-generation D and W 200-series pickup trucks (D for two-wheel drive and W for four-wheel drive) were among the first pickup trucks in the United States to feature a multi-cab configuration. Aside from the added seating, the styles of these versions remain different to this day.
As for the Power Wagon moniker, it goes back to the civilian version of the Dodge heavy-duty military truck built during World War II. Think of these trucks as off-road work trucks designed to tow and haul anywhere, not high-speed Baja toys.
According to the ad, the Power Wagon was originally purchased and used by the Rollins, Montana Fire Department, and then underwent cosmetic and mechanical refurbishment. It comes with a 225-cubic-inch inline-six, commonly referred to as a slant-six, and a four-speed manual transmission. The auction listing says both have been rebuilt.
The person in charge of the decoration has good taste. The green and white look stands out, and we appreciate the wheel and tire size limitations. The 19-inch steel wheels are wrapped in Goodyear tires and have drum brakes on all four corners.
Inside, beige vinyl on the doors, roof, and front and rear benches is a nice addition to the otherwise utilitarian interior. Other highlights include an upbeat 100-mph speedometer and an ashtray in the center console. You won’t find cup holders; instead, there’s a sticker explaining the direction to move the lever next to the shifter to engage the front axle and two-speed transfer case. Also note that these 1962 models have locking front hubs.
The W200-powered station wagon currently has a high price of $27,000, and the auction is set to close on Monday, April 11.
